I’m Garner McCloud – beer enthusiast and home brewer.  If you are like most of my readers, you’ve discovered the new, fascinating world of beer.  This page will guide you through your beer journey – whether you are a complete beginner who doesn’t know much at all about beer or are a beer veteran who wants to take deep dives into the history of beers.

What are the Types of Beer?

There are two types of beer – ales and lagers.

But that is just the tip of the iceberg – and I’m sure you have plenty of other questions.  For example, you may be wondering:

  • Why are some beers dark and some light?
  • What’s the difference between beer brewed with barley vs. beer brewed with wheat?
  • Does beer taste better from a can, bottle, or a glass?
  • What is craft beer?
What to Expect

You should expect to find answers to the questions you are asking right now about beer.  Even more so you should expect to find answers to questions that you haven’t yet thought of asking about beer.  I guarantee that the next time you drink a beer, you’ll experience it in a whole new way.  And if you love what you read, make sure to subscribe to the Types of Beer newsletter so that you can receive new content hot off the presses!
